Honoring our stories

healing our communities

In West African tradition, a griot (grē•ō) was a member of a class
of traveling poets, musicians, and storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history.

Though the tradition of storytelling has evolved to include media
and technology, there is no denying the power of telling a good story.

The Griot Project continues this tradition through a myriad of mediums all
committed to harnessing the power of story to facilitate hearing, support healing, and inspire hope within individuals and communities.
